Deacon / Deaconess of Education

(the role and responsibility)

First let it be said that this description of the role and responsibility of the deacon of education is designed as a guide  to help empower and not inhibit the process of service.  The aim and desire is for our children to be able to move through the different levels of bible education so that becoming a Christian is as natural response to the gift of God as walking.

To help and ensure this youth development we see the need to create and empower a structure for success. (as a side note it needs to be stated that we understand that what we do in the capacity of Sunday school and Church worship does not by design lesson the parental responsibilities for the child, but reinforce and enhance.)

·       Coordination of the different levels of classes so that a continuity exists in the educational advancement of the student.

·       Training and equipping of teachers so that learning and growth can be maximized  over the life of the student.

·       Teacher selection with the focus of finding the right fit for the class age and material.

·       Plans for the future as growth takes place

·       Through the aid of the teaching staff set up and maintain what is needed in classroom environment for learning to be optimized.  (facilitate an atmosphere for learning to take place)

·       Ensure that resources are maintained and available as needed for all age groups.

·       Communicate to the Church body and especially to the parents what is being taught to encourage family continuity in the growth process.

It is the desire of the eldership to pursue the filling and the maintaining of the position of Deacon / Deaconess of education for the purpose of growing the youth of today into the future Church of tomorrow and into Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
