Rescue Operation ‘Reign-Coat’

Psalm 91
PS 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
When it’s raining outside and you have to be out and about, a raincoat is good to have. (Ok, a slicker suit is better, but doesn’t fit the title as well.) David’s Psalm 91 is a good place to find comfort concerning protection in a world held captive by the cruel deceptions of the evil lord Satan. Satan is the god of this age who holds it under his powerful deceptions. (2Cor.4:4) It is Satan who leads the whole world astray. (Rev.12:9) The light shining in the darkness is Jesus! (Jn.3:19-21, 8:12, 9:5)
For those who have not yet come to Jesus for rescuing, what recourse do they have? None! (Acts 4:12) There is no alternative to their predicament. Being born a Jew, circumcised on the eighth day and everything else does not fix the problem. Even though being born into a Christian family may provide some safeguard, even they are not saved, only set apart. (see 1Cor.7:13-14) The only solution to death’s dilemma is Life and that through Jesus.
David’s picture of the Almighty’s powerful provisions of protection is reassuring, But. One must not make false assumptions about what God will and wont do. Many people, with out being securely nit into the fabric of God’s love, foolishly believe that their goodness and God’s goodness guarantees them safety and protection. It Does not! Without their being "in Jesus" they are most assuredly dead in their sins and any chance protection they might experience is only that, chance. (see Rom.8:5-16)
We live in a war torn world. A world held in the powerful grip of deception, sin, and death. You who are in Christ have been rescued and now are commissioned to labor in the rescue of your fellow man. (Col.1:11-14; Mat.28:18-20; Eph.3:10) As emissaries of Jesus and His Church is your relationship nit to Jesus like David’s was to Jehovah? If we are to keep dry in a rain storm, we have to wear the rain coat, in like fashion, if we want to walk in this war torn world without getting contaminated by the out pouring of wickedness, we must wear the Reign-Coat of Jesus’.
For our song to be David’s song we too must walk I faithfulness before our God who is Jesus the Christ. Jehovah God whom David walked before has placed Jesus on His throne and has given Him all His authority therefore it is Jesus whom we each will give our account to. (Psl.44:20-21) What can we hide from Him. Will Jesus not turn us over to calamity if we shed the overcoat of His reign over our hearts, our minds and our life. Reason with me, can we live foolishly and expect Jesus’ continued presence in our troubled lives?
David maintained his relationship with his God by remaining humble. He was not to proud or rebellious so as to not repent of his own shortcomings and sin. And you?
