Effective Evangelism Needs? Part 2

Welcome to our guests and all the family.

Prov 21:2 All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.

Last week we talked about “confidence & willingness”. We looked at David and the confidence that he had in God and that confidence came out in his actions as he faced Goliath. We also looked at willingness when Moses told the Israelites to bring their gold silver, fine linen and their time, so that they could build the temple to worship God in. Moses told these people to have a willing heart when they gave to God.

Today we want to look at two more points that go with the first two “ dedication & true love”. I feel these four combined when we are in the mind set to serve make us complete and our work not in vain.

Dedication = (Webster) To set apart for some purpose, to be devote, to address something to someone as a sign of honor.

We can set time apart for anything we want. So why dose it seem to be so hard to get us dedicated to God? We show honor to people of the word every day so why is it so hard to show honor to God.

When I here the word dedication many people from the bible come to mind. There one how ever that really sticks out and that person is Moses. Moses finding out that he was a Jew started to take a stand for the Jews, he killed one of the task masters that was wiping a Jew. Moses was confused at this time and ran away (Ex 2:11 -15). Guest what you can run but you can’t hide from God (Ex 3:1 to 4:17) Moses being confused about his dedication to God did try to back out, but God would not have it and so Moses put on his “dedication” and did as God had said.

Remember what dedication means. Moses had been set apart for a purpose. God is still today setting people apart for a purpose. Moses purpose was to lead Gods people to the promise land, even if they did complain all the way there. Moses dedication caused him to stand up to Pharaoh and demand that Gods people be let go. It caused him to stand up to the people that were complaining because Pharaoh added more work to there already demanding work load. He stood up to Pharaoh during ten plagues. He stood up to the people that went from singing to God to complaining that they were going to die at the red sea. His dedication stood strong when they complained about no food or water. He stood dedicated to God when he came back with the Ten Commandments only to find that his brother and the leaders had built a golden calf to worship. When Aarons two sons brought strange incense before God during worship and God destroyed them with fire Moses stayed dedicated to God. Through out all the complaining and moaning Moses stayed dedicated to God. Even when he himself sinned against God Moses kept his dedication to God (Num 20). Moses even had his own brother and sister stab him in the back (Num12 1-14) Even still Moses prayed for them and stayed dedicated to God.

True = (Webster) faithful, loyal, exact, accurate, real, genuine, not false

Love = (in the agape form) Is an unconditional love, a love that does what is best even if one does not want it.

It takes confidence, a willing heart, and a dedicated heart, to have true love. I can’t thing of a better example of true love then Jesus.

We all know the story of Jesus. The son of God, born to Mary a virgin, born in a barn, lived some thirty three years here on earth, and died on the cross to give us redemption and to maybe if he live right a home in heaven. I want to show us one thing before we close that just might help us to see that we can do what Jesus said for us to do in matt 28:19-20.

I saw this and it just blew me away because I had never noticed it before (Matt 3:13 -17). The spirit of God landed on Jesus. It was given to him so that he could start a ministry that only lasted about three years but it was a ministry that was so profound that it has brought us here this morning. What Jesus did he did with the spirit of God in him leading him, guiding him. Lets go to (Acts 2:38 -39). Do you see it? We are given the Holy Spirit; the spirit of God is in you when you become a baptized believer and follower. So what is the spirit for (Jn 16:-13-16) I don’t understand all of what Jesus said here but I do understand that the spirit of God that we receive when baptized is to lead and guide us into righteousness and to the fulfilling of your ministry.

God has given and will give every baptized believer a ministry something to prove your love to him and to show the world just how great a God he is. It’s up to you to have the confidence, willingness, dedication and true love to fulfill the ministry that God has or will give you.
