FAIRNESS

(Proverbs 1:1-7)

Definition of Fair – promising: favorable, just, and consistent with rules.

“All I want is things to be fair.” Is a quote from one of the guys I work with.  Do we not all ask the same question sometime in our life?

We are always asking why since we have been children.

LIFE IS NOT FAIR!!!!!

How can that be if we have a fair and just God?   He tells us to be fair.

Proverbs 29:14 “If a king judges the poor with fairness, his throne will always be secure.”

Col. 4:1 “Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.”

Proverbs 1:3b “doing what is right and just and fair”

Matthew 5: 45b “he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

WHAT IS OUR OUTLOOK ON LIFE?

There is a book out called “The Secret”

Do you focus on things with a negative attitude?

Why is this person is against me?

How come bad things happen to me?

Let us look at some biblical examples to these questions.

Joseph – he had his brothers and Potiphar against him. He was almost killed, sold into slavery and put into prison for doing the right thing.

David – had King Saul and son against him. He was almost pierced with a spear, ran off to live in caves. After being king himself, he had to run off because his own son was after the throne.

Paul – he had his own people against him. Let us look at II Cor. 11:16 to 12:10 .   Paul tells of all the things that have happened to him in his life. He also tells why.

Phil. 4:13 “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

Jesus – Jesus had his family, closest friends and his own people turn against him. He was ridiculed, made fun of, accused falsely, beaten, made to carry his own cross and died on that cross.

Jesus tells us in John 15:18-25 the world will hate us because the world hated Jesus first.

In Romans 12:14 “Bless those who persecute you; bless and don not curse.” Vs. 17 “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.”

Jesus tells us not to worry in Matthew 6:25-34

Are we looking at the things that happen to us as bad/negative things or are we looking at them as opportunities for us to show what God means to us?

Do not allow someone else to dictate how you are going to feel.
