HAVE YOU TOUCHED HIS CLOTHES LATELY?

Mk 5: 25-34 (28)

Welcome;

    Before we get started I know we can’t touch his clothes but we can touch his spirit, we can still get this same reaction out of Jesus when our faith will lead us to move. So I ask you, have you done anything lately that caused Jesus to sit up and take notice of you and your actions? Yes this can go both ways good and bad.

    Lets start by looking at how this woman had been living the past twelve year of her life (Lev 15:18 -25). This woman has had a rough twelve years. If you go back and read how things were dealt with in Old Testament times, you will see we just don’t have it that bad today.

    This woman has been living a life of separation for twelve years. Trying to make ends meet so she can go to the doctor and try to have her problem fixed. All the time, money and effort that went into trying to find the problem trying to find a cure for her illness so that it could be fixed and so she could start living what we might call a normal life. All this had left her with nothing but a problem that did nothing but get worse (Mk 5:26 )

   Mk 5:27 , There’s a lot in this scripture. It starts out “when she had heard of Jesus” (kjv)

This means that Jesus had to already been doing something for her to her about him. Jesus was no pew warmer; he was active in doing the Lords work. For the most part people get recognized for two things. Either they are doing something really good or something really bad. When you decide to take a stand for God (which is really good) there will be those that think you are really wrong, crazy, stupid, ect (Mk 3:1-6 & Acts 9:20 -23).

    One might say yea I know Jesus was on fire for God but he was his son, it was what he was sent to do. We all to often use this as an excuse not to do better, but we need to realize that Jesus was human just like us (Heb 4:14-15, Lk 22:28, Jn 1:14). God made us in his image (Gen 1:27 ). Jn1:14 say’s that Jesus came to earth as Gods only begotten son full of grace and truth. I feel that this shows us the problem with us. Somewhere along the way mankind has lost there grip on grace and truth. We have lost grips with the reality of the power of God and we have more trust in what man can do and less in what God can do. Have you touched his clothes lately?

    I’m not sure why, but we all have been like this woman at sometime in our life. That is, that we had to be spiritually, physically, or mentally broke (maybe just one maybe all three) before we tried Jesus. I have been this woman more then once in my life.

    Mk 5:28 This woman said “if I may touch but his clothes” (kjv) look at this “I shall be whole”. When is the last time, that what you have heard about Jesus caused you to move like this. This woman had never seen Jesus, guest what; we have never seen Jesus either. We have only heard about him.

    Let’s talk about hope for a minute (Heb11:1, Rom 8:24-25). This woman was hoping for something better. She knew there had to be something better and her hope was that she might find it someday. Too many people have lost hope and when you lose hope you stand way to close to losing it all. One’s faith has to be based upon what one hope’s for. What ever it is that you are hoping for is what will cause you to move. If your hope is in Jesus it will cause you to move towards him.

    This woman was not to be out in public, she was unclean in the eyes of both the world and the so called religious world. Yet her hope was “if I may touch but his clothes I shall be whole”. It was not that she was trying to sneak up behind Jesus to get a blessing; she was embarrassed of the state she was in. So her faith caused her to move and she touched his clothes and she was healed.

    Mk5:30, Jesus knew the instant that it happened, Jesus knew that very moment that someone had just touched him and was made whole. We have to understand that Jesus came to earth to help us (Heb 4:15 ). Jesus understands the problems that we have had, are having and will have as humans. Jesus said ‘who touched my clothes”. Jesus didn’t say this in a tone of anger, he was not worried about his clothes, but he said it in a tone on concern and compassion for this woman. Here’s our reply (Mk 5:31 ).

    As Jesus turns to see who has touched him, to see who has just been healed, the woman comes to him and tells him what she has been through and what has just happened. Let’s pause he for a moment and look at this. The woman came up to Jesus and told him her story. Look at this (Mk 5:21 , 24, 31) don’t think for a minute that none of these people did not hear the story of this woman. Jesus was on his why to Jairus house to cure his daughter and has now come to a complete stop because of this woman’s hope in him, because of her faith that she put into action.

    When is the last time you told your story to Jesus so that the crowd around could hear about what Jesus has done for you (Matt 18:20 ).

    Mk 5:34 “thy faith hath made thee whole” (kjv). Our faith in Jesus will cause us to move forward. Our faith will cause us to press through the crowd to have our uncleanness made clean. It will cause us to tell the world around us just what Jesus has done for us.

    Have you touched his clothes lately?
