With Angel’s Eyes

Mat.13:36-43

{BACK}

          41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.

          I am intrigued by something here; when the angels come to carry out judgment, what do they see that enables them to choose rightly?  With their angel eyes, what do they see in humanity that sets a person apart from the wicked. Since Angels are the agents that Jesus sends to harvest humanity, wouldn’t you like to know what it is they look for?  (How important is that cherished ticket to the Super Bowl? What if you thought you had one but found out at the gate that it was not a valid ticket?)

          {Mat.25:31-33; Rev.14:14-16; 2Thes.1:6-10}

          Here are some things we use to aid our vision: micro scope, spectra scope, monocular, x-ray, ultra sound, …. But none of these aids are able to help us see what angels see. 1Sam.16:7 tells us –“… The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." What ever it is, it can not be seen with x-ray or camera. If it is not physical, what then must it be? {God the heart knower – 1Kg.8:39; Prov.15:11, 16:2; Jer.17:10; Acts1:24, 15:8: Rev.2:23}

          So what sets a person apart from the rest of the human race and visibly marks them as one who is going through the gate into heaven?  Is it intellectual understanding, merit or behavior, church attendance, church membership, height, weight, sex, memory verses memorized, has read the right bible, just what must a person poses to gain entrance into the presence of God?

          Let’s asked the one who has established the rules of entering, let’s ask God. Jesus told Nicodemus that a person must be born again. (see John 3:3, 5-7) Jesus says "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit n gives birth to spirit.”  Jesus speaks the truth and if anyone refuses to accept what he says is true, as true, that person will be counted as wicked and evil and will not gain entrance into heaven. [read John 3:11-21 (18)]

          This re-birthing is key to gaining what one must poses if he or she wishes to enter heaven. (Jn.3:3,5) Paul, speaking of entering heaven, says that flesh and blood can not inherit the Kingdom of God . (1Cor.15:50) So to qualify as one who is allowed to come into heaven, a person must become something other than flesh and blood. If a person desires to escape eternal suffering, which is their due, then that person must seek being re-birthed into a non-fleshly person.

The final change into a Spiritual creature takes place in the resurrection, which is total transformation. However, if the seed of Spiritual is not planted in the flesh, there can be no reaping of the spiritual being. (1Cor.15:35-56) So what is the process by which a person gains this thing which angels see that causes them to put a person in the ‘going into heaven’ category?

There is a lot of church language we use when we talk about these things, or rather bible language, but the truths of these words must be communicated. This is it; If a person wishes to enter heaven, that person must allow themselves to be purchased from their present owner. If they refuse to be purchased they are in effect saying to God: “God, I know I should but the one who owns me gives me some things I like and take pleasure in and at this time in my life I don’t wish to give them up.” By doing this that person is saying that they are in league with their owner, who by the way is the head rebel, the leader of insurrection against the sovereignty of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. That leader is of course Satan, the Devil.

Rev.5:9-10 speaks of the purchasing of the willing and the price paid and to whom they were bought for. Those purchased were marked or labeled with a type of stamp or seal of ownership. Paul speaks of such a thing as this in 2Cor.1:21-22 – “…He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”  This ownership and the evidence of ownership in some way involves the Spirit. Notice what Paul says about this in Eph.1:13-14 (read) Here Paul says that the Holy Spirit given to the one who allows God to purchase them, the believer, they are marked with a seal and that seal is the promised Holy Spirit.

The 1st sermon preached by Peter that is recorded for us in Acts 2 says in verse 38-39 - "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call."   This being marked as one who is purchased or redeemed includes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God. This is so true that Paul in the letter to the Romans indicates that if a person does not have the Spirit of Christ then that person does not belong to God. (Rom.8:9-11) “…if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. …”

So what do angels look for in those creatures, who are made in the image of God, who inhabit the earth? They look for the mark of ownership. And what does that look like to them? I think it looks like God glowing out of the person’s being, out of the very essence or core of that person’s presence or body. Peter says this when he says we are participators or sharers of Divine Nature. 1Pet.1:4  “Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

Therefore, what angels look for and have the ability to see is, God, the Holy Spirit, living in human flesh, flesh prepared for His presence by the cleansing waters of baptism and the willing submission of the believer to their being purchased by the blood price of Jesus himself.

Have you been purchased? Will the angels find in you that thing they have been sent to find and single out? Does God dwell in you because of your believing response to the words of His invitation to escape the coming destruction? If not, today is a good day to do something about it. Come!
