| What
to Expect
When you come to worship with us, expect to see reverence in action. We believe that
Christ and his apostles did a great job in modeling what "church" should be
like, and we do our best to model the forms we find in the New Testament. Our worship
service typically lasts for about one hour. In this time you'll be brought the Word of God
through readings, prayers, songs, and a sermon.
Teaching:
Preaching takes place every Sunday, and always by Christian men. We strive to ensure
that what is being taught is authorized by God's word, as free from personal opinion and
interpretation as possible. Proof-text (chapter and verse) is commonly provided for
everything that is preached.
Singing:
One of the most unique items of our worship is our singing. It is done in A cappella;
in other words, our singing is without instrumental accompaniment.
Communion:
We partake of the Lord's supper or communion every Sunday.
Giving:
Every Sunday we also give of our means. Not according to the Old Testament teaching
concerning the tithe, but according to the teaching of the New Testament which says,
"...lay by in store as God has prospered you...". Giving is not a request we
make of our visitors as we believe God expects the members to support themselves.
Prayer:
Prayer also takes place in our worship to God. Public prayers are made every time the
Church meets; this too, is done by Christian men.
