cannot be started because it Already
does not exist
Some things in life are just hard to make sense out of,
like the above statement. There are some things in Holy Scripture
that can be just about as cryptic: let go to keep it, die to
live, give to get, Faith is believing in something not seeable,
man will live even if he dies, etc.
In modern idiom one might say – it does not compute. It
has been a week of challenges for many, if not all of you, in one
way or another. The challenge to continue onward and upward yet
looms ahead. For a time we enter what one might call the
sanctuary where we hope for some peace, and rest and
rejuvenation.
God has made some promises such as the one to Joshua and
the Israelites. (Deut.31:1-8) And Jesus’ own promise to the
Apostles. (Mat.28:18-20) Paul conveys this promise of God’s
tenacious love when writing to the Roman Church. (Romans 8:37-39)
(And we also are
fellow recipients of these blessed promises.)
We all have been born into the thread of time, we each
have a place in it, and we each must travel in what is our
allotted time and space with purpose and intent.
The journey will and does leaves its’ marking upon the
fabric of our heart and mind and soul but we must not relent from
living it. Even as the journey leaves its mark, we too leave ours
in our passing. ·
There is much that we experience, endure and perchance
even escape that is written into the thread of our journey and it
is ours to grapple with. The challenge is for each of us to not
only sustain our own momentum but to draw others onward in
theirs. Paul was swept into the following sea of his journey and
he shows us much about how to navigate our own course. (Acts
9:15-16; 1Cor.11:21-33) (good
example of the potential extended effects of our life upon others
Acts 27:13-28:6) ·
As we travel this life, you and I, it is good for us to be
mindful of our destination. It is also good to keep in our heart
who it is our life serves; we do not live for ourselves only but
for Jesus, His Kingdom, and His people. Because this is true, how
we live out our journey becomes vastly important. (2Cor.1:3-7;
2Tim.1:8-12) |
