Faith
( John 5:16-30 The greatest challenge of our Christianity is being one. It is easier to think of our selves as Christians and speak amongst ourselves as being Christians than what it truly may be to be one. To be a faith walker is be what God has called you to be for Him as one of His children. Jesus was a faith walker. I know He was the son of God but that is the point exactly so did Jesus. Jesus by faith trusted who he was even if the explanation of His origin did not make earthly sense. Jesus had to understand and believe and accept who He was and what His role was and then faithfully walk out the path of His life. I know, the argument still rattles around in your minds: but Jesus was God’s Son. So are you! Let me say that again only slower – b u t s o a r e y o u ! Faith walkers must know and accept their own beginnings and their path to walk for the Father. Faith comes by way of hearing, so says God through the pen of Paul. (Rom.10:17) The provision of that passages is dependent upon what is being heard – “the Word of Christ”. Jesus knew who He was and who it was that sent Him and for what reason He was sent. Jesus also knew what power or authority was given to him. (see Jesus’ words in John 5:19-27) Now what about you?
Listen to the words of Christ as spoken through the pen of
John: “1:12
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name,
he gave the right to become children of God-- 13
children born not of natural descent,
n nor of human decision or a husband's will, but
born of God.” God
has given you the right to become one of His children. This is an
act of God just like it was an act of God to overshadow Mary and
cause Jesus’ conception. As John clearly says: “born of
God!” Being a faith
walker requires you to believe and accept this truth.
As a Child of God you to been given power or authority
from your heavenly Father to accomplish your purpose for which He
has called you heaven ward. Peter gives some insight concerning
what God has given. (see 2Pet.1:3-4) This also is some of that
same “words of Christ” that produces faith by which we walk. One of the promises God has given that Peter alludes to is that in
baptism we receive forgiveness for our sins. (Acts
without
faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to
him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who
earnestly seek him. (Heb.11:6)
Being a faith walker requires that you accept your origin,
accept God’s workings in your lives, and also accept your
provisionary place. If you are the eye, then be the eye with out
regret or envy. If you are the ear be the ear, the foot, be the
foot. For many of us, knowing our place is the greatest challenge
of our journey.
As we move towards the future that our Lord Jesus is
calling us to, we will each grow in our understanding of not only
who we are in Christ but what we are in Christ. Through the
months to come the future we are walking towards will become more
clear. For now, we labor in preparation of that future. Are you up for
the journey heaven ward? Have you got your walking shoes on? Are
they secured by the lacings of faith?
