To Whom ( Deut.18:9-19 Man is an amazing creature, there is non like him in on earth. Man rules his world or so he seems to think. With science in his right hand who needs god in his left? By the freedom of evolution he is free to become what is within his genetic ideals to be – even if that is monstrous in comparison. With all that is going on in the world today it seems feasible that one day the world united under common leadership could outlaw religion because of its destructive tendencies. Consider the mass murder being perpetrated upon the innocent all in the name of some god. Even our own religious history is marred by terrible atrocities against humanity. All in the name of God! Our God. Is this what God intended for the world He created?
In the reading for this lesson Jehovah was speaking to
Moses and promised to raise up a prophet like himself that He
would require the people to listen to. (Verse 18) This prophet
was Jesus and Jehovah did speak through Him. (Jn.5:45-46) He did
give Him words to speak as Jesus testifies to. ( Jn.8:26,28; Jesus, who is our Lord and God, spoke what the heavenly Father told Him to speak and it is a good and wise thing to listen and obey. Why? Because it would be a very terrible thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Wisdom would suggest peace be sought between the Living God and a person while peace may be acquired. What this Jesus accomplished for humanity is the only avenue by which man can have peace with Jehovah. Some might say – ‘why do I need peace, I haven’t done anything really bad? I have stopped doing some things because I was told I shouldn’t do them, so I quit. I am a good person.’ (Job 34:31-33) Humanity does not have the right to set their own standards by which they will be judged. Jehovah God, the Living God who is the creator of all things holds that right exclusively. He has set the standards by which all humanity shall be weighed.
The nations that There is much I do not understand about this world and all that goes on in it but this one thing I know and cling on to – Jesus is the son of God and to Him I will give an account of my life. What that means is not what things I didn’t do but more importantly what things did I do for Him, His Kingdom, His people, and His creation. We are called to be so much more than just living for our own benefit and enjoyments. We are called to be blessings to the world around us because of His presence in us. His hands, His mouth, His eyes, His ears, His feet, His heart and His mind in us to the world. Jesus calls us to live our lives as if He owned us. And He does for by His blood are we purchased.
