18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect n the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

What humanity was before the fall is not what humanity is transformed back into in Christ. I am convinced by Holy Scripture that what we are becoming in Christ is not what we were before the fall. We are not being restored to a previous state of existence but rather are being transformed into a new position; one of glory never before realized in mankind. Is this defensible by the Word of God? Lets see!

·        Man was created in God’s image. (Gen.1:27)

·        Man lost glory in the fall. (Rom.3:23)

·        Man still retains God’s image after the fall. (Gen.9:6)

·        We are all fashioned after the first man, Adam (1Cor.15:42-50)

·        Those who are redeemed are refashioned into a new creation\creature. (1Cor.15:42-50; 2Cor.5:17

·        What we are to become\are becoming is greater than man before the fall. (Eph.1:4-10; 2Cor.3:18)

·        Not by our own power but God working mightily in us. (Phil.3:31; Jn.17:2; 1Cor.15:25-28; Heb.2:6-11; Jn.1:12-13)

Jesus, who we are being fashioned after is the first of His kind. What ever was created in humanity to look like God, in Jesus is found the completed picture. Jesus is the exact, perfect representation of the Almighty God of creation. (1Cor.4:1-6; Jn.14:9; Heb.1:3)

The conclusion is this. Jesus is the finished product of God’s creation purpose and we are now being re-fashioned in His likeness. The glory of God refined in us is greater than the glory lost in the fall. Mankind, in the flesh, fashioned after the prototype called Adam, is the raw material for what God truly desired to accomplish in creation.

Therefore, let God finish His working in you.

(Phil.3:14)
