Paul was called to preach the gospel in its fullness. We live an age of
danger. Not the physical perils that we read about in the news paper or see
video clips of on the news channel, but rather the kind that effect the safty
and security of the soul.
The popular things these days are the things that are lite and fluffy.
The 2% mike, no fat kind of mentality. It may make sense to in the food
department (only because we have been schooled to think it makes reasonable
sense) but what about in greater matters of faith?
Instead of there being total commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ,
how about 2%? And for that 2% investment of your time in service to the Lord
Jesus you will receive an unparalleled time-share in one of the five most
popular places in eternity. Yours exclusively for a whole month. That’s right
your 2% will guarantee you a place in eternity for a whole month. What a deal
for all those people who can’t afford to make a 100% commitment.
Then of course there are the churches that have tailored down the daily
allowable requirements to a minimum factor. Instead of five faithful acts of
worship we offer the speed service. That’s right. Drive on over to the “get
it right, get it fast” drive through worship service. If we can’t get you
through any three acts of worship in 10 minutes or less you don’t have to
tithe the next time you drive through. What a deal! Just drive in, tune in your
radio and sing along to your old favorite gospel medleys while flash reading the
subliminal message for the day. Pick up your prepackaged communion kit on the
way in and take it at your leisure. Remember to keep the foil lid and save up

I know all of this sounds way out there but only because we know this is
the direction things are heading in. People don’t want to be burdened with the
whole truth, they only want enough truth to make them feel safe but not enough
to make any radical change in how they think, act or live. What they really want
is a pill that would just make them right with God with out any real commitment
or effort or life change what so ever on their part.
Paul preached the whole council of God’s will for Hebrew as well as
Gentile. Same Gospel in it’s full bodied, undiluted, 100% potency. We need
that same message today to build our faith and lives upon. Our eternity is
dependent upon the complete message of salvation and faith and practice. If we
are to become complete in Christ then we need a complete and balanced meal, an
active Christian life style, and a heart and mind that gains its rest and peace
in Christ.
